How OptiGrid's DC-Flow Is Powering Fleet Electrification at Scale

When Orange EV announced the largest single order in its history, 600 electric terminal trucks, it marked a milestone for the entire fleet electrification industry.
OptiGrid's DC-Flow technology is part of what makes that scale possible.
Orange EV's press release highlights a key enabling factor. The new e-CCS1™️ option, now available on all Orange EV trucks, delivers full CCS1 compatibility with existing and third-party charging infrastructure. That interface runs on OptiGrid's DC-Flow, a bidirectional DC-DC converter developed through a 15-year research program with CU Boulder's Power Electronics Center (CoPEC), now deployed across Orange EV's fleet.
The problem DC-Flow solves is fundamental. Electric terminal trucks run on high-voltage battery packs. Most charging infrastructure operates at different voltage levels. Bridging that gap efficiently, without costly conversion losses, requires power electronics that can translate between systems in both directions in real time. DC-Flow does that.
OptiGrid has already delivered enough DC-Flow units to support 350 trucks. The supply chain is already in motion as Orange EV continues to deploy the 600-truck order through 2026.
The Orange Juicer™️ is the other piece of the platform called out in Orange EV's announcement. It's a branded version of OptiGrid's Reservoir. This battery-integrated DC fast charger slowly pulls from existing site power and delivers up to 200kW on demand, without utility upgrades or grid work. For fleet operators who have watched electrification timelines slip because of utility delays, the Juicer changes the calculus. Sites that would have waited months for grid upgrades can be up and running in weeks.
Orange EV's Kurt Neutgens said the Orange Juicer removes the final barriers to electrification. The 600-truck order backs that up.
The DC-Flow converter isn't limited to terminal trucks. Any DC system that needs to move power efficiently to another, whether that's a battery pack, a solar array, a fuel cell, or a charger, is a candidate for the technology.
Orange EV's fleet is proof that it works at scale.
